Centerville Rotary Meeting Highlights
Our Rotary theme for this month is
Rotary Fellowship Month 
 
President Sofie Ameloot welcomed everyone to the Centerville Rotary Club and led reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Brian Hayes provided the prayer.

Welcome to our guest, Ron Tringali who is retired from the health care industry. His son is in Rotary in another state and now Ron wants to get involved. We first met Ron at the recent Rotary Coffee Club.
 
 
Chuck King has taken over the duties of inducting new members and today he inducted Jake Hensel as the newest member of the club. Carol Kennard is his sponsor and Arnie Biondo is his mentor. Jake is the Program Manager at the Centerville-Washington Park District. Originally from West Virginia, he and his wife live in Bellbrook with their 4-year old son. Welcome Jake!
 
 
Today’s announcements:
  • Next week will be the Leadership changeover meeting.
  • Brian Hayes reminded all to pay your bill
  • Adam Manning announced it is time to start planning for Pancake Day - June 26 is the first pancake committee meeting 11 am at Yankee Trace. Please join the committee!
  • Food drive for the Food Bank is today and if you forgot to bring food, we will also take cash.
 
Gina Smith shared that her son is involved with car racing. The Berlin Speedway race this weekend will have a car promoting Gina’s newest book. Rochelle Bradley is her pen name. Car #31, owned by Tim Goulet, will be wrapped to promote her romantic comedy, “Popping the Clutch” which will be out in August. She will also be promoting her books at the Speedway. You can watch/listen this Saturday,  7 pm here: TV Channel FS1  (Fox Sports), Live stream Fox Sports App, Radio ARCARacing.com Congrats Gina!
 
 
 
 
 
Happy Bucks this quarter will go to Operation Warm for winter coats for children.
Pat Beckel was our Sergeant at Arms with help from Brian Hayes.
 
Pat announced Stubbs Park has reopened and the Concert Series has returned. Friday night will be a Journey tribute band along with Party in the Park and Sunday is a Tom Petty tribute band. All FREE family fun.
 
We had more raffles this week:
  • Boston Stoker cup, coffee $25 gift card was won by Arnie.
  • Elevate Wellness studio gift card valued up to $300 in services went to Mark.
 
Happy Bucks were generously given for:
  • Sofie A for Jake, and she took 7-year old twins to Stubbs Park on Tuesday and they had fun
  • Carol K gave congrats to Jake & Gina, and shared the importance of our Rotary family was demonstrated last weekend when Boyd showed up to watch Carol’s granddaughter Kaycee’s dance recital. He stayed ALL 4 HOURS so he wouldn’t miss her 5th dance which was the last number in the whole show! It was so special to have Boyd support Kaycee!
  • Gina S was happy her Dad, Ed was back at Rotary, for Jake, and the race this weekend
  • Arnie for Jake
  • Jake H paid his first Venmo to give thanks to everyone for the warm welcome
  • Dave T shared is youngest granddaughter finished her junior year at CHS with a 4.969 GPA and is one of 10 merit scholars, all while playing soccer, basketball and orchestra. She wants to major in neurobiology in college.
  • Raj G missed a few meetings because he was at some weddings, and his daughter finished her second year at Harvard
  • Ron H for Jake & Gina, and noted his mother’s 100th birthday would have been this Friday the 13th
  • Chuck for Jake, and announced the District grants approved for our club included $400 for coats and $200 for the high school orchard. He gave thanks to Carol for helping write the orchard grant
  • Adam M was happy for the upcoming farm report
  • Lee H was late and had to leave early to bale hay so there was no farm report today!
  • Mark K for Jake, and is traveling to Alabama to visit his grandkids.
  • Crissy A for Jake and Gina
  • Jeff S for Jake and all he does to help make the parks better, and he had a great vacation in NC with kids/grandkids
  • Jim H was glad to hear Jake was from Wheeling, WV, as Jim’s family is from that area, too
  • Harvey S noted Elda is struggling with allergies and with wildfire smoke, causing her to cough a lot but she is getting better
  • Pat B reminded everyone to be part of the Americana Festival on July 4th, with the opportunity to interact with close to 125,000 people. The Vendor Village and parade still have space available.
  • Sofie noted Lee will drive the Rotary fire truck in the parade and we would like to have a Rotary Tent at Lisa’s business, but need someone to organize and staff it.

President Ameloot announced we have collected $6,000 for coats so far. Thank you for your generosity!
 
The program today was a service project putting together blankets for foster children.
 
 
 
 
Rotary Women Connect was cancelled this month because everyone is too busy!
 
President Ameloot thanked today’s visitors, reminded all to BRING A FRIEND to Rotary, lead reciting of the 4-Way Test and wished all a good week.
