President Adam Manning welcomed everyone to the Centerville Rotary Club and led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. Ray Merz provided the prayer.

- Guests today included visiting Rotarians Joanna Garcia (Beavercreek), and Vimbai Madani (Middletown) back for another visit and Pat Turnbull, prospective member.
- Our exchange student, Marti arrived safely last Friday. Sofie shared that Marti had been Skyping with her host family and has quickly connected with their daughter. She’s had a good start at school.
- Crissy Allums is doing well after having both knees replaced. She’s working hard in rehab and misses everyone at Rotary.
- Pancake Committee meets next week, 11 am at Yankee Trace, just before the Rotary meeting.
- The next 3 meetings will be in the Academy Room.
- The Pancake sponsor sheet is now available. Kristin Hutton has agreed to take on the sponsorship chair position. Thanks Kristin! Kristin asked each person to think of someone who might sponsor, then you can introduce her to them and she will follow up.
Happy Bucks this quarter are going toward Hannah’s Treasure Chest for Operation Warm, providing winter coats to children in need. Our special guest Sergeant of Arms today was Rand Oliver.
Rand’s wife won a trip for two to the US Virgin Islands so he will miss Rotary for two weeks. He said he has to go - someone has to carry her luggage :-) Rand’s daughter will play in the Virginia Women’s Mid Amateur golf tournament. He recently caddied for her and she did really well.
The next bottle of bourbon was successfully auctioned off with guest Joanna Garcia, winning it for $175!

- Susan Schnell was happy to be back. Last week she had to wait for the washing machine repair person who didn’t show up, then her oven died, son lost his retainer, and a spatula melted while the stove was dying.
- Jeff Senney had been gone for weeks visiting grand babies, and having lots of good family time.

- Harvey Smith was glad Jeff wore a tie so he didn’t feel alone.
- Bill Menker announced he and Sofie will be riding in the Tour de Gem again and this year joined the Rotary Riders, raising funds for the Rotary Foundation. They will be doing the metric century - 100 km or 65 miles.
- Sofie Ameloot invited all to come join the event - there are family rides, too. She gave thanks to those who have already donated. It begins at Riverscape.
- Carol Kennard announced she is happy to have a PR committee for the Club, and can still use more help. Watch for an email and take on a small task!
- Andrea Share was happy to be back.
- Mark Febus glad to be back after having an emergency appendectomy (extremely aggravated), and is doing well now.
- Dan Johnson experienced the horror of barbarians terrorizing his house all summer, and then a beautiful yellow bus showed up yesterday to take them away :-)
- Matt Kuhn said his wife was named Interim President of Kettering Health Dayton (formerly Grandview Hospital).

- Kristin Hutton was happy her husband is back from Africa and is not too jet lagged.
The speaker this week was Nancy Schreiner, Membership Development Director for the Goering Center for Family and Private Business.
Nancy is also a member of the Lebanon Rotary Club.
Nancy shared that the Goering Center is at the University of Cincinnati. They nurture and educate family & private businesses, providing education and support to help them succeed. It was founded in 1989 by John Goering.
There are over 500 members and corporate sponsors help keep costs low. They operate in a safe haven atmosphere - don’t pitch to each other but create connections
They can also assist with family business transition - transferring the business that you worked so hard on, to the next generation and still have Thanksgiving dinner together.
They have a lunch program with Sierra Nevada, who’s slogan is: “Family owned, operated, and argued over!”
Institutes offered yearly, consisting of a12-series course - some classes are virtual with some in-person.
Employees complete a member alignment profile and then then the Center staff meet with Leadership to share what the employees said and discover areas to bolster business.
The Goering Center is considered connector, not consultant.
There are several programs offered throughout the year:
Biggest challenges they face are communication and family relationships. Their goal is to keep the family together.
